ONGOING OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC Support to the Formulation of a National Housing Strategy and Action Plan Total cost $118,327 Partners Ministry of Housing and Urbanization and Public Buildings United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)  United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Background and objectives Following Habitat II, the Government requested support from UNDP and UN-Habitat to formulate a national action plan on housing.  The project seeks to assist the Government in the formulation of this strategy and action plan.  Activities The project's activities started in December 1999 with an assessment of the national urban shelter situation.  Four in-depth studies, dealing with local building materials, housing finance mechanisms, land management and regional planning are being undertaken in order to formulate a national strategy and action plan.
